Designing Effective Exhibits: Criteria for Success, Exhibit Design Approaches, and Research Stategies

Success of an exhibit can be judged in two ways—visitor measures and/or critical appraisal by experts. Visitor measures include behavior, knowledge, and affect. Critical appraisal by experts can take any of three perspectives — that of the expert in visitor studies, that of the expert in the subjectmatter, and that of the artist. Each of these criteria is described in Part 2 of this article.
